I have always been a runner, and something I have always wanted to do is run in some type of event. I really want to do a 10k pretty soon, but I know it will take some effort to get into the kind of shape I need to do one.
Last week I finally got off my duff and did something about it. After sending my dear family off to work and school, I threw on my running shoes (they missed me), and I hit the street a runnin'. I did a lot of walking, but it had been awhile. I made it about 2 miles. It's not far, but it was a start, and was I really sore the next day. I ran again a couple of days later and did a little better.
Okay, so my sister throws me a challenge on her blog yesterday. She did this because she knows it's not my nature to pass up a challenge. And never say, "I double dog dare ya!" to me. Anyway, she tells me that she ran 3 miles on her treadmill in 30:00:05. Hmmm, I wonder how I will stack up on the street in 82 degree weather. So, I accepted the challenge. After driving my carpool, I set the timer on my iPhone, and took off running. Well, I am not sure how impressive 31:00:56 is, but I ran better than I thought I would. I found, however, that I had to really gut it out at the end, but I feel pretty good about it. It sort of gives me a starting point that I can work from. Thanks for the challenge, Kelly. I am going to try to kick your running butt!

Pretty good sistah dear, but let's see you do three miles every other day consistantly. I hurt like heck after my three miles! But I will be back on the treadmill again in the morning. I don't think I will go back to 20 miles a week, I'm still loving ballet, but I'm going to try to stick with 3 miles, 3x a week. Hope we can keep each other motivated! Read my blog for another challenge! I'm so proud of you!
