Monday, monday (la,la)

Made it through Sunday with no slip ups!

Began Monday morning at

116.4 lbs.

6:30 black coffee

Workout included ab and arm work

8:00 2 egg whites topped with cottage cheese, Kashi cereal with plain yoghurt

11:30 atkin's bar

4:00 another atkin's bar
It was a busy day at school with students needing a lot of attention, and I didn't get a chance to take a break and get a normal meal.

Getting ready to eat whole wheat bread with thin sliced ham, cheese, tomato.

It's piano lessons and my youngest son's high school orientation, so everything is on the go. At least no crap today!

Sunday should be a day of rest...

However, it always turns out to one of my busiest days of the week. Just got back from church and a meeting for our upcoming Springfest for the youth group. As well, we have a memorial service to attend, and we have a care group meeting (church at someone's house). It is days like this that I can fall into the trap of just eating junk and not working out.

Starting weight 116.0

7:30 am
black coffee

8:15 am
atkin's bar

12:30 pm
3 leaves of Romaine topped with 2 thin slices ham, cottage cheese, 1/2 avocado, salsa, water

I realize that I need to drink more water!!!

I know this part is going to sound weird, but I have incorporated body brushing into my getting into shape routine. I do it before I shower. This link describes the benefits of body brushing and how do it.

Made it through day 1

Well, I made it through day 1...I finished out the day well.

Lunch consisted of a toasted piece of 9 grain bread topped with chicken, salsa, and half an avocado.

For my afternoon snack, I had string cheese.

For dinner (because it was just me) was a bowl of Kashi with bananas, strawberries and plain yogurt. It was quite satisfying. I had a cup of hot tea before bed.

I didn't work out the first day because I had done some really heaving cleaning in the garage and around the house.

Starting over...actually starting a 12 week plan to get in the best shape possible

When I started this blog, my intention was to chronicle my journey of running, but that sort of fizzled. However, even though the blog fizzled, my enthusiasm still hasn't. In fact, I did train for a period of time and actually ran my first 10K in 1:01:13 on April 3rd. And to make it even more exciting, I got to run it with my sister. I didn't do too bad considering this was my first run and I am 44 years old. I came in 4th in my age division. I ran the whole way only slowing enough to drink water at the watering stations.

Well, I am now getting ready for a vacation to Hawaii in July, and I want to make sure I am in the best shape possible and ready for a run while I am there. I have already lost 9lbs. from running, but I want to take my physique to the next level. I have been contemplating this for some time, and now the challenge to better myself is on.

I weighed myself this morning

117.5 lbs.
size 2-4

While the numbers are impressive, it's really not about the numbers, but what I can see in the mirror. The muscle tone that I want and the definition are not there. I tend to accumulate weight around the middle, and after three kids and one c-section, the rock hard abs just don't want to make an appearance.

I just finished grocery shopping, taking my list of things I need. I am going to attempt to do a modified Body for Life regime. My plan is to eat as clean and balanced as possible, incorporating good fats, protein, and complex carbs into my meals.

So far I have consumed

7:30 am 2 cups coffee, black

10:30 am 1/4 cottage cheese w/ 1/2 serving of fat free yogurt, 1 tbs. kashi

I should probably measure myself if I can catch up with a tape measure.

1:00 pm atkins bar

More to come...
